U15 Hammers
I'm Simon Bradbury, Principle Coach of the U15 Hammers. I've been involved with Lydiard Youth FC for over eight seasons & am hugely passionate about grassroots football and coaching young people entrusted to me. I am currently undertaking my Level 2 FA qualification that has an emphasis on player profiling and individual player development
My philosophy is to instil a team ethic that sees the players work closely to each other, build friendships and to help each other both on the football field, in training sessions and as importantly, in school and their social lives. My teams will always work hard, challenge each other to improve, to encourage and support one another and work to an end, team goal. In my experience those values will always be as important as perceived ability. If you get all of those, you have a real 'team'.
We had a hugely successful season in 2019-20. Up to Coronavirus hit our country, we were proudly undefeated in Division 2 of the NWYFL, which saw us promoted to Division 1. We also were due to play in the Wiltshire Cup Final U14 and were in the League Cup Semi-Finals, neither competition concluded. Our coaching team of seven coaches covering our U15 group all train this team and deserve credit for helping this team help achieve it's ambitions.
I am also on the committee. One of my roles is to ensure all of our coaches, across the age groups, are appropriately qualified and I look to book their courses with the Wiltshire FA. I also help with registering current and new players with our club and work closely with our dedicated Child Welfare Officer.
I have three children, two boys and a young daughter. My son and daughter both play for Lydiard Youth. My family work within football, my brother is a UEFA A qualified coach, working in an elite academy in Austria for Rapid Vienna.
